Strength and durability of Hamburg elbows

PW Kral Hamburg elbows are bent pipe elements with minimal deformation and maximum shape repeatability – indispensable in high-pressure and steam installations. We offer them from carbon steel pipes (S235JR, P235GH) and stainless steel (AISI 304, 316L) according to EN 10253, in angles of 45°, 90°, from DN 15 to DN 1200. The elements undergo tightness tests and non-destructive examinations (UT, PT), and each piece receives a 3.1 certificate. This ensures you can be confident in their durability and compliance with international standards. With us, you will receive Hamburg elbows tailored to the most demanding operating conditions.

Most Frequently Asked Questions

What are Hamburg elbows and what are they used for?

Hamburg elbows are bends made from steel or stainless steel that allow changing the direction of flow in pipelines. Thanks to precise bending, these elements maintain uniform wall thickness and minimal internal stresses, which enhances the durability of the entire system. They are used in steam, water, and gas installations, as well as in the chemical and petrochemical industries. Compared to welded elbows, Hamburg elbows guarantee better fatigue strength and tightness, which is crucial in pressure-bearing installations.

PW Kral produces Hamburg elbows from carbon steel pipes of grade S235JR and structural steel P235GH, as well as from stainless steel AISI 304 and AISI 316L. The choice of material depends on the medium and operating conditions – stainless steel is used in aggressive chemical environments and in the food industry. All pipes come with material certificates and compliance certificates according to EN 10204. This ensures that you purchase elements resistant to corrosion, high temperatures, and mechanical loads.

PW Kral Hamburg elbows are manufactured in accordance with EN 10253-2 (bends without wall thickness change). They undergo dimensional inspections, internal surface roughness measurements, and non-destructive tests: ultrasonic (UT) and penetrant (PT). Each element is marked with the CE mark and comes with a 3.1 or 3.2 certificate according to EN 10204, enabling their use in high-pressure installations in compliance with PED directives. The quality documentation is provided to the customer in electronic or paper form.

Standard Hamburg elbows from available stock are shipped within 5–7 business days. For custom-bent elements, the production time is usually 2–3 weeks, depending on pipe diameter and wall thickness. We do not set a minimum quantity – we accept both single pieces and large-scale orders. Thanks to our own machine park, we can respond flexibly to customer needs and simplify the ordering process.

By choosing PW Kral Hamburg elbows, you gain elements with excellent shape repeatability and wall thickness consistency, which minimizes the risk of system failure. Precise bending eliminates welds in critical areas, resulting in improved fatigue strength and tightness. We offer a wide range of materials and dimensions, as well as full technical support in designing piping systems. Our products are certified and tested, guaranteeing safe and long-lasting performance under any conditions.
